2009 Delinquent Tax Listings
North Carolina General Statutes require local tax collectors to advertise annually all current year unpaid taxes on real estate. While we do not intend to embarrass the property owners by the advertisement of unpaid taxes on real estate it is the beginning of the foreclosure process. The 2009 real estate taxes became delinquent on January 6, 2010. Our tax office has mailed the regular tax statements in addition to delinquent letters to the property owners listed in this advertisement. The advertisement reflects all payments received through February 22, 2010. This office uses bank attachments, wage garnishments, debt setoff, and levy to collect all taxes due. Properties subject to foreclosure will be referred to the town attorney and additional costs will be added to the taxes already due. Law will determine the additional cost for each foreclosure. The 2009 Delinquent Tax Listing can be viewed here.
